La Nostra Storia

Our Story

In the summer of 1987, Giuseppe and Maria Russo left their small village in Tuscany with a suitcase of recipes and a dream. They settled in Huntsville, Alabama, opening a tiny trattoria on a quiet corner of Jefferson Street. Word spread quickly — the pasta was handmade, the sauces simmered for hours, and every guest was treated like family.

The recipes that define Bella's Kitchen were passed down from Nonna Maria, who learned them from her own grandmother in the hills outside Florence. Every morning, fresh dough is rolled by hand. Every sauce begins with San Marzano tomatoes. Every dish carries a story that stretches back generations.

Today, the Russo family's second generation carries the torch. Isabella "Bella" Russo, trained at the Culinary Institute of Florence, returned home to honor her grandparents' legacy while weaving in modern technique. The wood-fired oven still crackles every evening, the wine list celebrates small Italian vineyards, and the front door is always open.
